The holiday that wasn't to be

For Easter we packed our 3 kids in the car and drove down south for 9 hours. We got to visit with our dear friends for one day before stomach flu struck and we had to leave and go home. Our youngest son is still not well and it's been a rough week.

During that one day we got to go for bike rides, eat good food, visit parks, drink tea and crochet in the sunshine. We all enjoyed it so much.

After a spring of almost constant sickness we deserved a nice break but didn't quite get it. Disappointment is a part of life but it's still really sad.

The sunshine feels so good for the soul after a long winter of darkness.

We live a lot further north and we don't have a lot of flowers or green trees yet. It was so nice to see the colors and the life.

That wonderful pale green of the new leaves, the powder pink of the spring flowers and the white melting snow is my inspiration for my next crochet project. It is a cushion for the living room and I am almost finished with it. It will be 24 granny squares joined together with a border around it. I have made 22  and can't wait to see what it looks like when it is finished.

I love granny squares and I have an app from Simply Crochet where I get a new granny square each week. You can read about it here. This granny square is my own creation but I got the inspiration from a blog called Tipsy Tessie. Once I have finished the cushion and get organized I'll share the pattern.
