Lampshade test

I have always wanted to try to crochet a lampshade. Especially after seeing really beautiful ones on  this blog. So I decided to give it a try. 

I found an ugly old lampshade in a second hand store and decided to give it a try.  I didn't realize how hard it would be to take the old fabric off, but after some effort I finally admitted failure and asked my husband to help. 

During several episodes of New Girl the lampshade took shape. I made it up as I went along and had to re-do it a few times. 

I am especially happy with the border on the bottom. Now I just have to find another one to match!
